It's not just OBJ, but I use the basic and OBJ makes the most sense because I can use that OBJ everywhere :) Basic Supports Poser formats for those inclined :) Basic supports FBX, just don't expect rigging to work. I wouldn't expect it to work with Daz rigging at the price I paid. I don't find the UI as intitive as silo, but I was able to make some basic stuff with practice. I purchased shade because the short time I spent with the trial seemed positive. But I found silo to be very intituve and focused on modelling. I think people should give Silo a shot since it also has a free trial. I like silo but had issues with it and returned it a while back(this was during that long duration without an update). If you have steam you can get silo a lot cheaper. Importing and exporting are common to most workflows that use more than one software.Shade and Daz are no different. But we shouldn't miss the point of a modelling program. Hex doesn't support rigging.Hex loves to jack up UV's.

If hex did not have a bridge, you would be inporting and export OBJ. BAM! Doors opened.Īll Hex has is a bridge. I think anyone working with any form of 3D, Poser/Daz users included, should become familiar with this file format. Įdit to add - its like getting a new version of Carrara for free. Silo is $100 on sale - you can paid a little more for Shade standard version and work with DS files. Works with Poser and iClone files another + for Hex - Modo - Lightwave - Carrara - most any program that does models.

It would be a good 64 bit replacement for Hex that doesn't crash. Sure I get it - Blender is free ( I hate the interface ) - try it from when they used to sell it ( long time now ) I heard here is a version coming that supports OpenCL and GPU rendering on AMD cards. Hmm, I'm thinking I might stick to learning Blender.

I am only using the basic version - you would need standard or pro to use FBX in DS. I think I'll stick with Blender IF I can find a tutorial that is!ĮDIT: Mmm, Silo looks good, and there's a Linux version. If you can't use what you create in Shade in DS what is the use of it!? As a side note Smith Micro are offering Silo at 37% off, wonder if they saw what Daz had done!? Did one more - import ok - export ok ( can't use it in DS ( so far )) - DS said bones not correct
